Recently we asked members of our One SMALL Step facebook page to share their reason for hosting a One SMALL Step event. Here are their top ten reasons.
- Hosting an event is like teaching a school lesson....the one that often learns the most is the teacher. There is so much of your self that goes into the preparation...that at the end, the gratification and experience gained through the process is priceless. -- Kara Prince
To come together as a family/community. It brings you closer and allows you to connect with families affected by PWS that you may not have met otherwise. -- Vee Baker and Josh Gilliam
It allows me the opportunity to change my child's future. Money funds research and research provides insight into potential therapies that will help our children:) -- Marina Jones
To take control of an uncontrollable situation. By hosting a One SMALL Step event, I felt like I was given the opportunity to be part of the fixing ... To be part of the solution, and to take control of what we felt was an uncontrollable situation. -- Dana Capobianco
It's a way of transforming hope into action. Each small step brings us that much closer to a cure. -- Rebecca McWilliams
One SMALL Step brings awareness to your community. -- Sarah Peden
To raise lots of money to eliminate the challenges of PWS. -- Tanya Johnson
Often we are so caught up in how challenging this diagnosis is for our nuclear family that we forget how hard it is on our extended family and friends to watch us go through it. They want to help; they want to alleviate some of our burden, but just don't know what they can do. OSS events give our family and friends an opportunity to help in a way that can truly make a difference. -- Ronda Jensen
“Good things may come to those who wait… but greater things come to those whomake it happen”. For us there was no better way to ‘make it happen’ than by hosting a walk. -- Joe Olivacz
No regrets. I don't want to say to myself one day "I should have". I only Want to say "I've done everything I could. With everyone's help." -- Caroline Richard
